Aksaray Kelim, 18th c. 14' x 6'. This is an unusual kelim from the Aksaray area, or possibly Obruk. It is extremely finely woven and has excellent saturated colors. It is also very unusual for one of these to be woven so wide in one piece on a single loom. This indicates that it was intended to be a rare and special piece when it was originally created. The use of all the white cotton makes for an exceptionally strong graphic effect! a beautiful and rare kelim, and there are not many pieces left out there that are uncollected of this quality..........?
