Finely knotted as shown in the photos. This rug is not for the faint of heart collectors. i have owned a few obnoxiously beautiful and rare Baluch rugs, this is one of those. Absolutely unique design to me, the field contains sideways s serpent design towards the top, which in turn creates an ascending movement in the main design. Very simple border designs, the change of design from horizontal to vertical axis is extremely cleverly executed, i have personally spent months with Baluch nomadic tribal people around the triangle of Baluchistan. It is mind boggling to me how this woman (weaver, i assume) understood and executed the border design on different axis. In my opinion, a must have Baluch rug in any serious Baluch collection. The color variations in the main design and the use of different shades of red within the ornament itself along with the wild design makes me believe that the rug was woven well into the 19th century.
