Indigo dyed kasuri futon-ji, Japan c.1900. The futon cover is made of homespun, hand woven cotton in the traditional four strips, joined with hand stitching. The e-gasuri (picture ikat) design is the goodluck kanebukuro or money bags pattern, alternating with a geometric motif. It was probably made for a wedding. Although it must have been used, the indigo is dark and it is without tears or stains. 50"/128cm x 58"/147cm
