Rare and fine border of a towel with original lace edging, silk open-stitch embroidery on linen ground with mythical Classical themes, exquisitely rendered. Circa 1600. Abruzzo in Sicily. Its imagery is identical to a panel in the Poldi Pezzoli Museum, Milan. No repairs. Very small losses according to its age, now conserved. Approx 28 x 7 inches (71 x 17 cm).
