Pre-Columbian tie dye mantle, Seguas3/Nazca culture, circa 600-800 ad, 50 x 55 inches, mounted, in excellent condition. This is a particularly striking example of Pre-Columbian tie-dye technique: the "dots" are atypically large and diamond shaped rather than round; these shapes are diagonally aligned to produce a sense of diagonal movement across the blue and red colored patches creating a secondary lattice effect. Overall a generally bold graphic textile.
