This may be an early Proto-Kurdish or what is called a Sauj-Bulak although the design is not normally associated with these types. Besides the brown background, it may have had a brown/black ground where the wool has completely corroded only leaving red wefts. The colors are the greatest. The minor gul connecting the two major guls is reminiscent of a design i believe i may have seen in an early Turkmen carpet. It is of light weight and handle is soft and very pliable. The cover photo shows wrinkles but it lays fairly flat when pressed out. It measures 43 wide x 38 long inches.
