Kuba large section fragment dated 1230 ah (1816 ad), 40" x 38". This example uses a Hamadan border motif which i have never seen in any Caucasian rug before. The colors al all typical indigenous colors including a pale violet which seems to be routinely present in rugs of this age. The blood red dye in the small medallion forms have a corrosive component which leaves them slightly lower than surrounding colors. This is a piece obviously missing its bottom section; it has some splits, is missing sections of edge and apparently someone though it was worth fixing a very long time ago. These remnants remain attached to the upper right side. In general the fragment has almost full pile of the very best wool. Price include shipment any where in the lower 48 states. Checks preferred.
