Six hair detanglers, Kerala and South Karnataka, India. Brass, steel, wood. 8" (20.2 cm) to 11" (28 m) high, Early to mid 20th century. An unusual group of six hair detanglers found exclusively in Southern India. The carved wooden example seen second from the right has some script characters incised on the right tong; i am getting these interpreted. Please see photo of one being used.
