Back
Tibetan takyeb (pack animal forehead ‘decoration’) with a geometric design and the green stems of several flowers interwoven lattice-like though it. Hand spun wool warp and weft and very tightly woven (estimated to be circa 100kpsi when extrapolated from the number of knots that can be seen/counted through the small hole in the backing material, which itself is made of hand spun wool warp and weft also). Rich saturated dyes, the green especially attractive, and woven sometime circa 1920. Size is 24cm high x 24.5cm wide (approx. 9.5in x 9,75in). First time on the market since being bought from a Tibetan refugee in Nepal in the early 1970's, having been in that one collectors hands since then.
