Shahsavan sumack chanteh or utility bag face. Cm 29x29 ca. Datable to 1870/1880, but might be much older. This little, colorful, magic sumack chanteh bewitched me. i saw it years ago. After three or four consecutive trips to Istanbul the day came when i bought it. Imho it’s a masterpiece, a work of art, modern and tribal art at the same time. One end is kind of gnawed, but it really doesn’t disturb me. Never paid so much for such a small piece! But, believe me, i keep enjoying it a lot every time i put my eyes on it. Woven by a real artist within the Shahsavan tribal group. Colors are simply fantastic. Everybody can see this. It has a kind of aura, it attracts you. Yes, a real marvel, a jewel.
