Istanbul Tepebasi silk embroidered bohcha, 1900 or so. The embroidery is very fine and the ground fabric is in a probably cochineal dyed Atlas silk. The designs are elegantly articulated with the center being a pinwheel representing long life and it's continuation. The backing is in a fine cotton material. 108 x 108 cm.
