“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science." Albert Einstein Avar felt carpet, 19th century, Caucasus / Daghestan ... One of the most ancient layers of rug making .... in terms of technic & symbolism as well ... proud and dramatic expression of mythic profoundity, power and harmony ... Freshly & professionally washed. Please ask for more details. More here: http://rugrabbit.com/profile/5160 P.s.: An addition to the history of the piece from the son of Peter Davies, a well known nyc dealer, who had the carpet in his store next to the World Trade Center, until .... "My fathers Gallery was adjacent to the twin towers , when they went down on 9/11 the entire collection was trapped in ground zero. Each day for a year they would let him in to carry out what he could by hand. It took months but he managed to carry every piece out including this one which was in the corner closest to the tower. So your piece is also a genuine 9/11 survivor as well. His gallery address was 125 cedar street , ny ny. Right across the street. He lost all his windows when the second plane hit, and debris hit the windows filled his outside deck. Anyways ... it has a history ... that was the corner of the gallery that i sleep in as well. So i grew up with that piece ."
