An excellent antique Uzbek Lakai silk embroidered ayna khalta / ilgich, dating to late 19th century. This envelope shaped talismanic hanging with a false flap represents the wedding ceremonial mirror bags. This is a very fine example with a very old design made up of classic archaic motifs. Notice the very unique pillar borders which one sees in very old examples. The silk embroidery on a wool bannat ground is extremely fine and precise chain stitch (see close ups to get a sense of the quality). The rich colours bring out the design. It is in excellent condition with original tassels. One of the finer examples i have seen and offered at a fair price. size: 74cm x 67cm (28.5" x 26.5"). Email your questions.
