Konya-Cappadocia region, circa 1800, this is a recently discovered fragment of a battered, old and rare Anatolian weaving, we have displayed another portion of this rug in an earlier Rug Rabbit posting, the design is manifestly primitive, free-flowing and mostly likely of tribal origin, the colors, including a wonderful chocolate-aubergine, are still strong and clear, the piece has been carefully and professionally washed, it has not, however, been mounted on backing.
