Baluch rug; size 117 x 188 cm (3`10" x 6`1"); In a vertical row four big, precisely drawn Salor Güls are allocated on a brown main filed. As secondary Gül one find on the right and left side halves of the Kedshebe Gül. Surrounded is the main filed with Kedshebes. The vine-red ground main border is built with the Ovadan Gyra motive also known as Dogatshik- or Turkmen-line-border. Flanked is the main border on each side with a (triangle) white lined Chamtos border. The rug ends start with a small stripe made in “floating weft” technique and went over in an interlocked arrow kelim. Sides are built with several bundles of warps. Inner bundles are wrapped with red and blue wool in a (staggered) Gyjak border style. The outer two bundles are wrapped with brown wool and seamed to be renewed. All colours are natural except a purple and light green (olive?). Both coloures are used only for a small number of knots, one would expect them in silk, here they are in wool, placed in the center of the Salor Güls and Kedshebes. In general the coulouration is bit different as in “normal” Baluchs, vine-red and brown looks for me more like the colours in Turkmen rugs. Condition of the rug is very good, brown coloured wool is slightly oxidized.
