This circa 1900 oversized Mandarin Chinese Oriental Rug in an Art Deco design measures 10’0” x 13’6” ( 304 x 414 cm). It is a very attractive palace sized Mandarin Chinese Carpet with a hanging basket which comes down from the middle of the rug suspended by a rhomboid with a hash mark “Shou” for long life and prosperity. It hangs from a long black cord with a bow and checkerboard holding the handle of the basket which contains a massive array of beautiful flowers in rose, two shades of blue, ivory, two shades of red, three shades of green and tobacco. The borders are worked with a grey minor border and a major border in medium blue containing birds, rhomboids, meandering flowers and vines in a very asymmetric layout. There is one low area of the rug in the left corner. It is not a big deal. Otherwise the rug has very good pile of beautiful soft Mandarin wool. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $150.00. http://www.antiqueorientalrugs.com/Rchinese4.htm
