Make sure to see all the extra detailed photos that are at the very bottom of the listing's gallery. An unusual if not unique design for its type, unlike anything I've seen such as ones with the center medallion design ending in anchors, or others with the Harshang design and the Mina Khani design. The designs and colors very much remind me of the very old Caucasian Kuba Rug FragmentI saw, so much so that i believe it may have been copied from it. If you put them side by side you will see what i mean. The design also harkens back to the early 18th-century nw Persian design rugs containing tree trunks with sprawling branches and flowers such as the rug published in Schuermann's Caucasian Rugs #59. The large open leaf or palmette is also similar to ones found in some of the early Sauj Bulagh rugs. It measures 3.6 x 6.6 and i believe it is from the third quarter of the 19th century or before. i could not find any repairs that have been done except for the securing of the ends with thread and the sides have been re-wrapped but at one end where the added selvage wrap started to unwind the original dark red selvage wrap is present underneath. It has wool warp and weft and some strands are mixed with goat or horse hair. Ask about this
