afshar tribal tent bag which is rare because of its inscription in the field. The field is dominated by a central tree with songbirds at each lower side. At the top there are two inscriptions. The left hand one reads Shahbanoiee or Shahrbanoo, which is the name of a woman. The right hand one is Sheibanir or Sheibany which is the name of a man. The piece may have been woven as part of a dowry. The colors on the front have mellowed from red to a soft chestnut shade and the bag is complete, intact, and has all the original tassels and fastening loops. Reference 2742.
