a very rare antique Beaded leather bag from Tibet or Ladakh India. Dating to the 19th century, such bags were part of the Buddhist traditions of the Hamaliyan people. The blood red beads had a religious significance to the Tibetan people and was the quintessential colour used in most of their textiles. One sees many later examples but to find a genuine piece such as this is pretty rare in my experience. It has a beautiful patina and some mirror work. The piece has a wonderful aura and would add nicely to any collection. size: 15cm x 12cm (6" x 5") with the leather strap extending an extra 30cm (12")
