1700's (or earlier?) stove tile from Transylvania, Kalotaszeg region. In one hand a beautiful and ultra rare example of the Ottoman period's artistic influences in Transylvania. It shows the exact layout of the 17-18th century Transylvanian prayer rugs. The drawing of the elements is more archaic, showing maybe the early pictorial preview of the Transylvanian prayer rugs, can lead us back to the middle age. One wider Mihrab in the middle and two narrow on the sides with the familiar columns. There are the pairs of the leaves above the side Mihrabs as well. It also has the same appearance, as the entrances of romanesque christian cathedrals or monastery's. On the other hand it is more mystical. a very archaic example of the tree of life in the middle. Its symbols are clearly the male and female reproductive organs, showing the fertility and the human genesis (just put the picture i've added, next to it, and you'll be amazed by the medical accuracy, 300 years before... everything is on its place...). Sorry for the added pictures, but i think that these really belongs to the understanding of the background of such a symbolistic piece. I can send ultra high res. picture on request. Top museum quality, the most magical of that kind, i've ever had.
