Shahsevan Bag Face, nw Persia, 19th c., 2' x 2'

A pile bag face featuring a design type more often associated with flat weave work, specifically those in the rare ‘reverse soumak’ technique. To see this pattern rendered in pile is extremely rare. The condition is good, virtually full pile with no repairs or re-weaves. The colors are all derived from natural dyes.
