Highly unusual antique Anatolian yastik, 19 x 43 inches. i have not seen this design before. The motifs resemble those seen in North African, Moroccan embroideries. The colors have the convincing depth and clarity of natural dyes, and i see no color runs or significant fading. The green border shows variations of hue due to abrash, although there may be a small stained area in top border, near the approximately 1 x 3 inch reweave at upper left corner. There are details in a deep burgundy red that stand out against the saturated insect-dyed red field. The orange and canary yellow are clear and unfaded. Mostly good pile with visible wear in places; a couple of very small holes and a few black knots of old repair; some corroded black and some natural undyed black. Original side finish and remnant of red kilim end.
