moroccan middle atlas berber carpet although very similar in appearance to the Beni Ourain carpets of the northern part of the Middle Atlas mountains, this particular piece was woven by Berbers in the southern region of Marmoucher. Undyed shades of ivory, charcoal and a little chestnut brown have been used and the wool is of exceptional quality and silkiness. a traditional Berber knot has been used. Marmoucher carpets often have a narrow row of knots tied back and front over both selvedges and this is a major aid to identification. Two cedar trees have been portrayed in the bottom corners.
