Rug no: 16
size : 486 x 220
type: Antique 1880
origin: Iran
design: Qashqai
content : Wool on wool
the medallions here appear to have been adopted from a city rug,but the less sophisticated field design gives this unusual piece a particular charm.this is the kind of rug that is virtually impossible to assign to a subtribe. see(Murray l Eiland Jr and Murray Eiland 111) Oriental carpets a complete guide page 152.This an important carpet in perfect condition of over 130 years of age. its both collector and decorative. After consulting my expert friends ,we came to the presumption that it is nomadic(not a workshop) woven as an order? in the summer camp of a Qashqai sub tribe? .it has white lambs wool weft and warp and woven in symmetrical knots.
