Turkmen child's embroidered cap with a yurt-like form. I've always been captivated by the remarkable similarity of the shape of some Turkmen embroidered caps to the shape of the yurts the Turkmen tribes lived in. Many would cast this as a coincidence, but i like to think otherwise. This cap has a trellis-like decoration along the side panel and a circular motif at the top center reminiscent of a yurt roof's sky door or oculus. Where the trellis walls of a yurt would join the roof poles - the Turkmen used a tent band to help support the roof and stabilize the structure. This cap has a decorative band in a similar position on the cap as that of a yurt. i know i am belaboring this somewhat, but it is so interesting to me having had a lot of experience with yurts. Anyway this little hat has charm and wonderful symmetry. Size:3.5 tall x 6 inches in diameter.
