3 Fragments from a Significant Near Eastern Carpet found in Tibet. Most probably 17th century based on design and relation to classical prototypes from northwest Persia. These fragments are structurally a little bit strange. The weft is un-plied, two to three shots, high warp depression with symmetrical knots pulled significantly to the left. My guess is that it is nw Persian / Azerbaijan or perhaps Eastern Anatolian so-called "Golden Triangle" region and relates to a period when these neighboring regions were intimately connected. Perhaps Kurdish weavers?
