Chinese rug. Last quarter 19th century. Beautiful colors combination, animals, boats, houses. Size 2,93 x 2,12 m. The color palette, soft tones and clear field are typical of rugs of this period. These rugs were woven with high quality wool and the pile was left long. The reason was that these rugs were made in northern areas were the winters are extreme. these type of pieces gave heat to the home.

Baluch Main Carpet with Reciprocal Gul Grid. In Praise of Visual Imagination: Granted that thumbnail views can only suggest the truth. But surely someone will be able to envision this compact yet expansive main carpet in all her coloristic glory and calm majesty of design, recognizing the anonymous genius whose fingers transferred the powers of the mind\'s eye into this robust, dynamically tensile reciprocal gridwork of unusual Guls in dark tones with electrifying flashes of Blues on a smouldering crimson field. Purists of Dye Chemistry Beware: the 3 small light triangles in the field may contain (horrors!) fuchsine. 132 x 213 cm.
