Antique Anatolian Konya prayer Kilim . 19th century. Size : ca 120cm x 90cm ( 4ft x 3ft ) Rather unusual prayer Kilim , no classical Mihrab like most prayer Kilims but a so called prayer stone at the top , between the two hooks . i have seen a similar example with a stone as a Senneh prayer Kilim , but never one of Anatolian origin . Probably woven by a Alevi weaver . Alevis are a minority in Turkey who are quite similar to the Shia Muslims of Persia. They usually use a stone , which is made of earth from the city of Kerballah. They touch the stone with their forehead while they are down for the Sajdah .
